Tesco Insurance and Money Services starts cloud-first digital transformation programme

Tesco Insurance and Money Services (Tesco IMS) has kicked off a comprehensive digital transformation programme, enabling the insurance company to establish a robust cloud-first ecosystem and create improved value for customer.

Zensar Technologies has been selected to modernise Tesco IMS's entire infrastructure, including network and application hosting services and contact centre operations. The partnership will also support Tesco IMS in facilitating a technology carve-out from Tesco Bank, following the sale of its banking operations to Barclays UK in late 2024.

Manish Tandon, chief executive officer and managing director of Zensar Technologies, highlighted the significance of the project. "Tesco Insurance and Money Services have a very exciting vision for their business, and we are delighted to have won their trust and confidence in delivering this critical transformation," he said.

As Tesco IMS emerges as a standalone entity, Zensar will transform operations and drive efficiencies across all areas. This includes implementing specific regulatory controls required for an insurance business and simplifying technological processes.

Robert Jamieson, chief information officer at Tesco IMS, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "We're excited to be partnering with Zensar to modernise our end-to-end infrastructure, network and application hosting services and contact centre," Jamieson said.

He added that the technology will help develop new platforms and tooling across the company's IT infrastructure, while refreshing cloud and security landscapes. "This will lead to a highly efficient operating model," Jamieson explained, "providing a class-leading service to better support our customers and colleagues with a real-time view of our technology and business systems."

The collaboration aims to support Tesco IMS's ambitious growth plans. The company, which began as Tesco Bank in 1997, now serves more than 2 million customers across home, travel, pet, and car insurance.
