WhatsApp launches AI-based tools for businesses

WhatsApp has announced a set of new AI-based tools for businesses to increase the ways in which they can communicate through the messaging app with customers.

At a conference in Brazil, the Meta-owned company said that businesses can now use AI to answer the most popular queries they receive to enable them to communicate faster with customers.

Additionally, Meta is integrating AI tools to allow businesses to follow up with customers who have responded to an advert on Facebook or Instagram. The company said that firms can use these tools to offer discounts on purchases they want to make.

Meta added that it is starting to roll out Meta Verified on the WhatsApp Business app in Brazil, India, Indonesia and Colombia. It said that this provides customers with the reassurance that a business has registered their information with Meta and has received impersonation protection.

Businesses using the service also receive enhanced support from Meta and can use WhatsApp across multiple devices for their employees. Meta said it would expand the service to more companies in different countries soon.

WhatsApp added that it is testing a feature that allows customers to talk to large businesses for complicated requests, with the company aiming to expand this feature in the coming months.
