UK secures £89m deal to export aerospace tech to Brazil

The UK government has secured a £89 million deal to export UK aerospace technology to Brazil.

UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK’s export credit agency, has supported the £89 million loan to Embraer, the third biggest commercial jet manufacturer in the world.

The deal will help the Brazilian manufacturer access parts, components and technology from UK suppliers to use in its commercial and defence aircraft programmes.

UKEF said this is part of a wider initiative to strengthen trade ties between Brazil and the UK and hopes there will be more collaboration between the two countries around aerospace technology.

Commenting on the news Samir Parkash, interim chief executive of UKEF said: “Now, with this UKEF first deal with Embraer, we can export world renowned British expertise and technology in the aviation and aerospace industry to Brazil – an economy that was rapid in recovering pre-pandemic levels of economic activity, that keeps on growing strong in 2022 and is an important trading partner to the UK. “

He added: “In the four quarters up to Q1 2022 trade in goods and services between the two nations increased by 18 per cent year-over-year reaching £6.5billion.”
