Switching broadband provider could save consumers up to £162 per year, says Uswitch

By switching broadband provider, consumers can save up to £162 a year on their bills, according to a new report by price comparison and switching website Uswitch.

Despite this, Uswitch found that over a third – 36 per cent - of Brits had never switched broadband providers.

Men were less open to changing providers, with seven per cent saying they would not change, compared to six per cent of women.

Almost half of both men – 49 per cent - and women – 44 per cent - reported an increase to their broadband bill of at least £4.99 a month in the past 12 months.

On average, two-fifths of those aged between 45 and 54 said they’d never switched providers. And one in ten of those had seen a monthly payment increase of £10 to £15, the highest of all age groups.

Commenting on the findings, Max Beckett, broadband expert at Uswitch.com, said: “When you near the end of your broadband contract, it’s important to check if there’s a better service from another provider that’s more suited to your needs.”

He added: “This could mean faster speeds, a cheaper monthly payment, better customer service or even all three.”
