Snap rolls out AR features to businesses

Snap has introduced AR Enterprise Services (ARES) which will enable businesses to integrate Snap’s augmented reality (AR) into their channels.

ARES brings together Snap’s AR technology with other technologies that the social media platform has purchased over the past few years, including Forma and Fit Analytics.

The first offering from ARES is a suite of services which help customers find the right fit and virtually try on products inside a retailer’s app. The service will be available to customers in the second quarter of this year.

The social media app claims this will offer potential customers a “personalised and immersive experience”.

The new feature comes with support for businesses to create digital versions of their products using photogrammetry hardware and machine learning. Snap will also offer enterprise tools to manage these assets and measure performance analytics.

Commenting on the news Jill Popelka, head of AR Enterprise Services of Snap, said: “Over the last decade, we've been hard at work bringing fun and personal AR experiences to Snapchatters. In the next decade, we’re excited to take our world-class AR technology to businesses' websites, apps, and even into their physical locations.”
