British Airways settles 2018 data breach

British Airways has settled a case brought by both customers and staff members that had been impacted by a huge data breach in 2018.

The breach resulted in personal data being leaked, the lead solicitors in the case said on Tuesday, according to a report by Reuters.

Those impacted by the breach are to receive a confidential settlement following mediation with the airline, said law firm PGMBM.

The firm explained that the resolution does not include any admission of liability by British Airways.

Three years ago, the airline announced there had been a breach of its security systems which led to the personal data of 420,000 staff and customers being leaked.

In October, the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office fined the company £20 million for failing to protect the personal details of its customers.
