Apple hikes prices of apps

Apple will increase the prices of apps on its App Store from next month.

The technology firm said that prices of apps and in-app purchases, excluding auto-renewable subscriptions, will increase as early as 5 October in all countries using the euro.

Prices will also increase in other countries including Egypt, Japan and Malaysia.

Prices will also increase Vietnam, where the price increases reflect new regulations for Apple to collect and remit value added tax and corporate income tax at 5 per cent.

Apple makes periodic adjustments to prices in different regions to reflect changes in currencies and taxes. Last year, prices dropped from €1.09 to €0.99. The latest price rise means apps will start at €1.19.

The move comes a week after the tech giant launched a new iOS update which allows users to edit, undo send, and mark conversations as unread.
